Topshop lipstick in 'Macaroon' review

I recently purchased my FIRST
          Topshop lipstick
after testing the others and debating I bought the colour 'macaroon'. I don't have many lipsticks but I do have a lot of popular colours; Reds, oranges, pinks. But macaroon is such a gorgeous colour.

Posatives;
-It's not bright pink and it's not too pale, it's perfectly in the middle.
-It has a creamy texture and feels soft on the lips
-The packaging is so.. cooool
-the price is massively reasonable!

negatives;
-It can dry out your lips, make sure they are moisturized prior to wearing this lipstick!
-It does need re applying- make sure you take it out with you

Overall, Topshop have won me over with this as i always reapply
lipstick out of habit anyway and the colour is PERFECT. 4/5

Positivity

Positivity.

There are actually waaay too many times in life when i'll just think oh deary me. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!

This usually happens at several possible times. When I'm menstrual, when there's exams coming up and also when i've been on tumblr for a zillion hours and seen too many pictures of perfect girls that I never planned on.

Loads of things go through my head at times like these but the main things i think are; Why aren't I thin/my hair long/perfect skin/amazing wardrobe? Why aren't I ultra brainy and why are things so hard? Am I even happy at the moment? Do I really like them? ect ect ect blah blah blah.

The problem with these thoughts is the fact it can totally bring you down. They can make you really upset, angry, frustrated, depressed and all those awful feelings you desperately want to avoid! I often cry as I'm an emotional sort of person, but sometimes I get really angry and neglect people I love.

Basically what I want to say is; It happens to nearly everyone. Your angry and upset is perfectly NORMAL! hurrrrah! Now thats cleared up, here are some ways to deal with that...

  • If your feeling really down about your body and want to make a change the best way to feel better is make a plan. A fitness/eating plan. This way you'll feel like your going to be able to succeed at what you want and you'll be satisfied that you are able to plan it! It really helps me because it makes me feel positive about what I want to do.

  • Feeling down about how smart you are is obviously a hard one because it's not something you can change easily. But one fail in maths for example, might be an amazing pass in English. Please dont just focus on all the things wrong, think positive ! no one sucks at EVERYTHING. So think what your good at and keep your glass half full. If you've got exams on the horizon get a revision timetable made!

  • If your questioning if your happy you really need to assess whats making you unhappy. This could be because its something really serious or just because your hormones are alllllover. If it's something really serious that you need to tell someone about, nows the time to do so. seriously. If it's that your not sure if your happy in your relationship, or something along those lines there are ways to solve it. Try not to talk to whoever it is your speaking to/ in a relationship with and see how you feel. If you feel much happier without them, you probably should consider what to do next..

  • finally, no matter what emotion you feel for whatever reason, you really should just look after yourself, eat something really yum(and healthy if you choose!) and just stay positive because seriously, it won't be this way forever.

Julia's Questions;

1. The last thing you did for the first time?
I can't think of anything too amazing that i've done for the first time recently, but I wore a hair donut for the first time yesterday as I just bought one, I love it!

2. The closest thing you that is pink right now?
I have a lot of pink things in my room but the closest is my kindle case. Or my nail file... they're kind of the same distance.

3. The last movie you went to see? How was it?
The Impossible. Oh my gosh it was so sad! I cried the majority of way through because it was really emotional and realistic. The fact it's based on a true story just makes you imagine how you'd feel if you were in a tsunami or anything as serious as that. Overall though, it really is awesome.

4. A super power you wish you had?
A photographic memory. I have the worlds WORST memory and it drives me insane when i'm trying to revise for exams ect and it stresses me out so much. So i'd love to be able to remember it all! As well  i'd be able to remember dates that things happened like memories, that would be nice.

5. Favorite accessory?
My gold locket cross necklace from Topshop from my boyfriend. It has a picture of me and him inside and it means a lot to me. Plus it looks really nice.

6. If you were a colour, which one would that be?
Mint green. It's a calm cool colour that reminds me of summer and is incredibly pretty. It's also a little different and not to everyone's taste.

7. Favorite TV series at the moment?
I don't really watch TV if i'm honest because i'm usually pretty busy. But Made in Chelsea when it's on. Although it makes me so jealous.

8. The song that is playing right now?
Daughter- youth. Such a beautiful song that's so unique. A lot of people know about it which you'd expect would make it mainstream but it really could never be mainstream. It sends me into a dream world.

9. If you were able to time travel, where'd you go? The future? The past (If so, what period)?
The past. As strange and maybe bad as it sounds World War 2. It's my favourite time to learn about and just seemed so interesting the life of a child back then. I wouldn't really want to know about the future because it'd ruin it and if it wasn't a good time you'd just be constantly waiting for that time to come. I'd rather just anticipate the unknown! plus at the rate its going it's not going be too good...

10. Favorite fictional character?
Going to be totally cliché here and say Edward. It's really because twilight is written in a way that causes you to connect with the characters. I can't really think of any other that stands out for doing so!

 my questions;

1. if you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
2. Whats one makeup essential you couldn't live without?
3. If you had £1000 to spend on clothes would you spend it all on high street brands or all on designer?
4. If you could look like any celebrity who would you chose?
5. Whats the best book you have ever read?
6. Do you have a favourite quote? what is it?
7. What would be your dream job?
8. would you rather live in trendy flat or a cute little cottage?
9. Whats your favourite song right now?
10. Whats the best thing that's ever happened to you?

Night time skin care routine

Skin care  isn't something people really love to blog about because we all know its no where near as fun as makeup. But skin care is ultra important so here's a list of all the things i use and my opinions on them!

Here is all the products I use on my face. I don't really use all these in the same night as too many products can damage your skin! But I always always always make sure I at least remove my makeup. It's soooo important you remove your makeup because your skin absorbs all the nasty chemicals in the makeup and makes your skin dry(sometimes really oily), spotty and difficult to beautifully apply makeup the next day!

step 1) removing eye makeup and face makeup/cleansing the face.

These eye makeup remover pads are roughly £3.99.  My fav thing about them is I have really sensitive skin and simple really knows how to target people like me! their products are really natural and non perfumed which means its ideal for skin like mine that needs a little bit more attention! The same applies for these makeup wipes by Simple. Really kind to every skin type and totally worth buying. These are also £3.99!

To remove makeup and cleanse I also loooorve this product. It's the 'cleanse and polish' hot cloth cleanser by Liz Earle in rose and lavender. It removes makeup really easy and smells super nice which makes you feel allll fresh. It also 'polishes' the skin too! I use this instead on makeup wipes if I have more time to spare! It's supposed to be used with a heated up wet cloth as this opens the pores to absorb the good ingredients. It's around £20 to buy in the shops. Pretty expensive but  you pay for what you get with this!

2) Face wash!

My two favorite face washes are the Neutrogena visiby clear in pink grapefruit and the Boots tea tree and witch hazel foam wash. Neutrogena are an amazing brand for people who want to eliminate nasty spots. This face wash does that as well as sorting out black heads and making your skin lovely and cleaaaan. It smells yummy and as you can see it's nearly all gone i love it so much!

The boots one isn't quite as lovely as the neutrogena but it does the job and feels really nice on the skin seen as its foam. It contains tea tree and witch hazel which our skin loves. It deeply cleanses to make the skin really healthy :) the Neutrogena one was £4.90 when i bought it and the Boots one was £3.60

3) the face scrub/ mask.
Best. Product. Ever! Soap and Glory are so popular right now and a few of their products are overrated but most of them deserve all the praise! This face scrub/face mask is one of the best i have ever used. It contains the little particles and help exfoliate the skin and get rid of any dead skin but also can be used as a face mask if you just simply leave it on for a few extra mins!
It should only be used a few times a week as face scrubs are harsh on the skin. But using this every week deffo sorts out my spots and helps with pores and blemishes. The packaging is really eye catching which is rare for any face wash products! It's so quirky its another great reason to buy it! Its approx £7.50

4) Moisturizer!
Last but not least! Another simple product hehehe. (swear im not addicted they're just so good for my skin) Leaves skin radiant and in tip top condition without making the skin all oily and yucky. Moisturizer really does need to be used after face masks ect to give back the natural oils the skin produces. Therefore I totally recommend this! Bargain price of £2!

Wednesday, 9 January 2013

I recently purchased some new brushes from Ebay and i love them! They were £11 with free postage and packaging which was such a bargain as the brushes are really good quality.

The brushes came in this little brush holder. I love this as it actually looks really nice and sophisticated for the price! Also its nice to keep them all in order and have something other than my makeup bag to carry them around in.

These are the brushes! (sorry for bad quality) There are 20 brushes in the set but the seller has sets that are smaller and larger and all different coloured handles and brushes. The set has all the essential brushes in and also some ones that will be a bonus to have. I love doing eye makeup so having so many eye shadow brushes is perfect for me.

If your not wanting a full set of 20 there are really 7 brushes that are most essential:

1) the foundation brush- soft, flatter towards the end of the hairs and of decent size to spread the liquid out easier.
2) blusher brush- soft, medium sized brush. These come in several sizes. You can get larger more fan shaped ones useful for bronzer and ones that are more dome shaped that i kind more useful applying blusher on the apples of your cheeks.
3) eyeshadow brush- small stiff brush usually rounded.
4)eyeshadow blending brush- This is a little fluffier than your eyeshadow brush as it needs to make the eyeshadow less severe and blend into the next colour
5)eyeliner brush- This brush is either a thin line or an angled brush. This creates a straight smooth line
6) brow brush- This is always a square flat shape and angled to create a really neat shape
7)Lip brush- A small flat round tipped brush. The lip brush applies the lipstick neater and usually makes the lipstick last a lot longer.

If you want the name of the seller comment below! thankyou xxx

2013

2013 is going to be a BIG year for me! This year many events are coming up that I'm both excited and nervous about!(no order)
  • Prom
  • Leeds festival
  • Holiday to LA and San Diego
  • Leaving school
  • Exam results
  • 17th birthday
  • Boyfriends birthday London trip
  • Starting college!
The event I'm most looking forward to is probably Leeds festival! because i have previously been twice but this time us girlies are camping! It's really going to be soooo exciting. We have already started planning it eeeek! Already Eminem has been announced and Alt-J and I am a huge fan of Eminem and i really love Alt-J too so i think it will be amazing.

The scariest events are deffinately Exam results and starting college! I do try hard at school but I am a rubbish reviser. Fingers crossed I'll knuckle down and do ultra well and be proud of myself. I'm nervous for college because it's new surroundings, new people and new subjects! I aim to take English lit, Psychology, Business and Media. Hopefully I'll enjoy all these as they all interest me.
